We would like to thank the International Association of Theatre Critics once again for the trust they granted to our Craiova Shakespeare Foundation by designating us to produce the Thalia Prize Trophy designed by the Romanian designer Dragos Buhagiar.
We are happy that, besides organizing the Craiova International Shakespeare Festival in Romania, our foundation has been given this honorable responsibility.
We would also like to thank the Executive Committee, the Honorary Presidents, the Vice-Presidents, the General Secretary and all the members of the International Association of Theatre Critics for their support in organizing, since 2008, the Conferences on Shakespeare within our Craiova Shakespeare Festival – this has contributed a lot to the prestige and interest in our festival’s conferences.
I am very pleased that, on the occasion of this 5th edition, the Thalia Prize has been awarded to the great theatre creator Eugenio Barba for his entire scenic and theoretical work.
We are particularly happy to hand him the Trophy, taking into account that, two years ago, Eugenio Barba was our Shakespeare Festival’s guest – his performances and the meetings with theatre professionals and students fascinated the audience.
