Apply by 18 Jan 2023, 3pmLive Art and Performance Studies (LAPS) is an international, two-year state-of-the-art master’s programme in English at Uniarts Helsinki / Taideyliopisto. It combines critical thinking with experimentation in artistic work and artistic research. The aim of the programme is to collectively investigate what performance does, or how, and what performance engenders in society. The programme provides research-driven context for artists to define live art and contemporary performance through individual and collective practice. The emphasis of the programme is on practice-driven theoretical inquiry.The Live Art and Performance Studies master’s programme has a wide network with local and international collaborators in the fields of performance art, research and contemporary art. This network is present in the courses, excursions, seminars, mentoring and projects done in collaboration with artists and researchers.The MA programme is entirely in English and the completion requires two years of full-time study.Read more about Live Art and Performance Studies MA programme: https://www.uniarts.fi/laps Who is LAPS for?LAPS invites artists from diverse cultural, social, economic, and educational backgrounds to investigate and propagate emergent narratives in arts.The programme is designed for people that already have foundation in live art, performance art, or they work in the multidisciplinary field of contemporary art, but want to develop their research skills alongside their artistic practice.The programme is equally designed for someone who has already carried out research in another field in the humanities or sciences, but want to focus more on e.g. embodied practices or performative research.Our ethos is founded on respect of diversity and equity. We aim to provide a space for an engaged community.
