As every year on this date, we are pleased to announce that our Association’s journal, Critical Stages/Scènes critiques (Link: www.critical-stages.org), has just been published.
Once again, the new issue presents an impressive body of work:
58 contributions, nine of which are co-authored, bringing together 68 authors from 26 countries.
The range is truly global, stretching from Taiwan, Japan, and the Philippines to India, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Armenia, and Georgia, as well as the United States, Canada, and across Europe.
I would like to warmly thank all the authors who entrusted Critical Stages with their work.
Their confidence in the journal, their patience throughout the editorial process, and their commitment to critical dialogue are what ultimately make each issue possible.
This issue (#32) is distinguished by its Special Topic, explored through 13 articles in the “Special Topic” section, with four additional contributions hosted in the “Inter/National Reflections” section, bringing the total to 17 texts.
Together, they offer compelling perspectives that fully reflect the title of the collection, Remapping Asian Theatres.
This represents a substantial, and we believe significant, body of work.
To the best of my knowledge, it is among the very few collective scholarly efforts devoted to this field, and I am particularly pleased that Critical Stages was able to bring this ambitious project to fruition after 20 months of sustained effort.
My sincere thanks go to all section editors, Yana, Matti, and Don, who devote their time, expertise, and care to ensuring that the journal meets the high standards we all share.
Don’s departure, after many years of uninterrupted and invaluable contribution, is a real loss for us all.
At the same time, we are confident that Katayoun, who has kindly agreed to continue his work, will carry this responsibility forward with equal dedication and excellence.
We wish her every success in this role.
Warm thanks are also due to Ian Herbert, whose knowledge, dedication, experience, and enthusiasm consistently help ensure that the journal’s language reflects its ambitions.
He is joined in this effort by Michel Vais and linguist Linda Manney, both meticulous and experienced readers, whose contributions are deeply appreciated.
As I note with every new issue, your help in spreading the word remains essential.
Please share the news with friends and colleagues and post the banner on your websites. Critical Stages/Scènes critiques (Link: www.critical-stages.org) belongs to all of us, and you are, of course, free to download and circulate any article you wish.
I wish you all a joyful and peaceful New Year, marked by solidarity, collegiality, and hope.
