Warszawy, Instytutu Teatralnego w Warszawie oraz Marszałka Województwa Mazowieckiego: wszyscy oni wspaniałomyślnie współpracowali z Sekcją Polską IATC, aby zapewnić finansowanie i realizację programu naszego kongresu.
Czeka nas wiele ciekawych wydarzeń podczas naszego Kongresu: Nagroda Thalia zostanie przyznana po raz pierwszy kobiecie, dr Kapili Vatsyayan z Indii, wybierzemy nowe kierownictwo IATC, będziemy mieć nawet historyczną i przyrodniczą wycieczkę.
Jestem pewien, że to warszawski kongres będzie kolejnym krokiem naprzód naszego Stowarzyszenia w kategoriach profesjonalizmu i naszych zobowiązań wobec sztuki teatru. Zapraszam na Kongres. Dziękuję.

Welcoming the Critics to the Festival in Warsaw!

I am enormously happy to welcome you to this 26th Congress of the International Association of Theatre Critics, here in Warsaw. Thanks to the enthusiasm and commitment of Tomasz Milkowski, our great organizer, we are going to have the largest assembly in the recent history of the association. I express my sincere gratitude to the Theatre Institute in Warsaw, the Polish Ministry of Culture, the President of Warsaw City and the Marshal of the Mazovia Region; all of whom have generously and graciously collaborated with the Polish Section of IATC in terms of funding and organizing the entire programme of our congress.

We will be watching great Polish theatre during our stay. I have long admired the deep, slow, dark, intense, cynical, philosophical Polish theatre, and am very much looking forward to seeing as many shows as possible this week. One way of expressing the gratitude to our generous organizers is to write about the theatre performances you will experience here, keeping in mind our code of practice.

There will be many exciting events during our congress: the Thalia Prize is to be given for the first time to a woman, Dr. Kapila Vatsyayan from India; we will elect the new leadership of the IATC; we will even have a historical and natural tour. On top of all these, we are going to have a good colloquium on the topic of “Theatre Beyond the Theatre”, an exciting and relevant theme for today’s world theatre.

I am sure that this Warsaw congress will be instrumental in moving our Association another step forward in terms of our professionalism and commitment to the art of theatre. Enjoy our congress fully. Thank you,
